KCRC supports worthwhile causes
A special light rail vehicle (LRV) was converted into a mobile blood donation centre today at Tuen Mun Siu Hong Light Rail Stop to offer a convenient and comfortable venue for residents to give blood.
This event is part of a series of charity activities organised jointly by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and Hong Kong Red Cross.The activities mark KCRC's 90 years of service to the community.
In addition to the blood donation activities, KCRC and Hong Kong Red Cross also launched a set of commemorative ticket. Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will be donated to Hong Kong Red Cross.
The special LRV blood donation centre was open today between 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm.Popular artists and celebrities lent their support by giving blood and encouraging residents to participate.
Following the blood donation day at Light Rail, a second blood donation day is scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday) at KCR East Rail Mongkok Station.This blood donation centre will be opened between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
Another four staff blood donation days in May have also been arranged to allow KCRC employees to participate.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the blood donation day, Mr Jonathan Yu, Director, Light Rail expressed gratitude to the blood donors.He said KCRC had a fine tradition of serving the community and the event was a clear demonstration of its commitment to support charitable organisations and people in need.
Mr Yu also encouraged the public to support the charity work of Hong Kong Red Cross by purchasing the commemorative ticket which is now on public sale at all KCR East Rail stations (except Lo Wu and Racecourse) and all Light Rail Customer Services Centres.
