KCRC fully cooperates with ICAC
In response to press enquiries on an ICAC case involving suspected embezzlement by some staff members of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), a KCRC spokesman said:
"KCRC management is aware of the ICAC operation and will continue to cooperate fully with ICAC investigators.
KCRC first discovered certain discrepancies in transaction records and subsequently referred the case to the ICAC for follow-up investigation.
The case did not involve shortchanging Octopus users or railway ticket buyers. No KCRC passenger has suffered any loss.
In the meantime, based on what we have learned from the investigation, we are taking swift action to minimize any further opportunities for theft or embezzlement.
The arrested staff have been suspended from duty pending further investigations.
