KCRC welcomes RDS-2000

Commenting on Government's publication of the Railway Development Strategy 2000 today, a KCRC spokesman made the following statement:
"We welcome the release of RDS-2000 which provides a blueprint for future railway developments in Hong Kong in 2006 and beyond.
"We are particularly pleased to be able to take part in the natural extensions of our passenger and freight systems, namely the Northern Link, the Kowloon Southern Link and the Port Rail Line.
"KCRC is interested in the Sha Tin to Central Link and the Regional Express Line as we have the capability to plan, design and build these new railway projects on the back of our experience with West Rail, Phase I, and East Rail Extensions.
"We look forward to studying the terms of Government's invitation to submit proposals and subject to the Managing Board's decision, we will proceed with the preparation of these submissions."
