KCRC Blood Donation Week kicks off today
 
The opening ceremony of the KCRC Blood Donation Week was held today (16 September 2000) at East Rail Hung Hom Station to kick off a blood donation campaign jointly organised by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation and Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre.
Officiating the opening ceremony were Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre Senior Medical Officer Dr C K Lee and KCRC General Manager - Corporate Affairs Mrs Irene Yau. Popular artistes and winners of this year's Miss Hong Kong Pageant were also present to lend support to this worthy cause.
A blood donation center, set up in the Main Concourse of the Station, was open to donors between 11 am and 5 pm today.
KCRC Blood Donation Week is part of a series of community activities to mark the KCR's 90th Anniversary which includes, among other charitable causes, the issuance of a commemorative ticket set for the benefit of the Red Cross and a highly successful blood donation drive among the KCRC employees in April & May respectively.
Following today's blood donation drive at Hung Hom Station, the campaign will continue at East Rail's Fanling, Fo Tan and Sheung Shui Station. Passengers and the public can give blood in the blood donation vehicle stationing outside these stations from 18 to 23 September according to the following schedule:
