Light Rail issues Hong Kong’s first commemorative ticket on CD

To mark the completion of its livery renewal project for phase 1 and phase 2 vehicles, KCR Light Rail has issued the first compact disc (CD) format commemorative ticket in Hong Kong.
The commemorative ticket set, featuring the original livery of the phase 1 light rail vehicles (LRVs), will be available for sale from 30 October (Monday) at all Light Rail Customer Services Centres, East Rail ticket offices and 47 Daily Shops.
A spokesman for Light Rail noted that the ticket was issued to commemorate the original livery of the LRVs. The first two phases of LRVs, which comprise a total of 99 vehicles, have been in service for 12 years. During that time the old LRV livery was literally a part of the scenery in the North West New Territories. All LRVs will sport the new livery by mid November this year when the LRV livery renewal project is completed.
The spokesman added that for the first time in Hong Kong a commemorative ticket has been produced in the format of a credit card-sized CD on which the original livery of the phase 1 LRVs is printed. The CD also contains a Light Rail related computer game. Winners of the computer game will have the chance to win fabulous prizes.
The ticket set, available at the price of $32, will be valid for multiple trips on Light Rail and its feeder buses on 19 November (Sunday).
