KCR East Rail regulates Lo Wu train services to cope with the passenger flow during Christmas and New Year holidays

KCR East Rail anticipates a lot of passengers will make use of the Christmas and New Year holidays to travel to the Mainland. To provide a pleasant journey for passengers, KCR East Rail will closely monitor the passenger flow at Lo Wu and other stations and regulate the train services accordingly to ensure a smooth cross-boundary flow.
"As with the past long holidays, KCR East Rail will closely monitor the passenger flow at Lo Wu and regulate the train services as required in order to tie in with the handling capacity of the boundary authorities both on Hong Kong and Shenzhen sides during the peak period," said Mr Anthony Yan, KCR East Rail Customer Services Manager.
"To cope with the anticipated passenger flow during the peak period, KCR East Rail has completed the construction of a new exit at platform 3 of Lo Wu Station in early October. The new exit will be opened for public use when the Contra Flow Scheme is implemented at Lo Wu leading passengers to the Departure Hall and then proceed to the Arrival Hall for departure formalities. The new exit will help ease the congestion at platform and exit area. Six additional turnstiles have been installed at this new exit, increasing the total number of exit gates to 24," added Mr Yan.
Passengers travelling to Shenzhen over the holidays are advised to call the East Rail Customers Services Hotline on 2602 7799 to enquire the cross-boundary arrangements at Lo Wu before starting their journeys. The hotline information will be updated every half an hour.
Moreover, KCR East Rail will provide an all night domestic train service on Christmas and New Year’s Eve (24 Dec & 31 Dec) and extend the service on Christmas Day (25 Dec) for the convenience of the travelling public.
