Giant breakthrough at West Rail in this month’s Trackrecord
West Rail made tremendous strides forward in the past month on two projects, both of which are covered in the current issue of Trackrecord.
On the Kwai Tsing Tunnels project, there was a breakthrough on the first tunnel section by Mulan, the giant tunnel boring machine brought to Hong Kong especially for this landmark project. The other project saw the official topping out of the first of nine stations along the West Rail route. Ceremonies were held to commemorate each of these significant events in West Rail’s progress.
Also making progress, the Light Rail extension in Tin Shui Wai Reserve Zone was given the go-ahead by the Executive Council. As stated in our story, KCRC will soon award construction contracts for this line which is designed to tie in with West Rail.
Other stories in this month’s Trackrecord look at the Corporation’s on-going efforts to make its services safer, more efficient and convenient for passengers.
