Light Rail service in Yuen Long affected after traffic accident
 
A section of Light Rail service in Yuen Long (seven stops) was affected this afternoon after a traffic accident involving a light rail vehicle.
The accident happened at 3:57 p.m. A 12-year-old girl was hit by the rear vehicle at the right-hand side of a Yuen Long bound route 721 couple set when passing a pedestrian crossing adjacent to Hong Lok Road Stop.
The injured girl was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital. She was later certified dead.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
During the affected period, Light Rail routes 610 (Yuen Long – Tuen Mun Ferry Pier), 614 (Yuen Long – Tuen Mun Ferry Pier), 615 (Yuen Long – Tuen Mun Ferry Pier) and 721 (Yuen Long – Tin Shui Wai) were partially affected. A total of 13 feeder buses were deployed to provide emergency service between Hung Shui Kiu and Yuen Long.
The incident site was cleared and Light Rail service was resumed at 4:57 p.m.
