Historic ground-breaking for Ma On Shan Rail covered in Trackrecord
Following the Government’s official go-ahead last October, KCRC began work on Ma On Shan Rail on 12 February. That historic moment was marked during a commemorative ceremony held at KCR Tai Wai Station and covered in the latest edition of Trackrecord.
The ceremony was attended by 300 guests, including government officials, contractor representatives, community leaders, working staff and the media.
Now that construction of Ma On Shan Rail has begun, and with works on the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension commencing in April, the KCR network is well on its way to becoming a much larger, more integrated rail system for the people of Hong Kong.
Also in this issue of Trackrecord are stories on the upgrading of KCRC’s credit rating by both Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s; the continuing success of East Rail’s "Champion Service" campaign; and the excellent construction safety record achieved by West Rail, which is one of the best in Hong Kong and fully compliant with international standards of safety.
