KCRC awards three contracts for Light Rail extension works
 
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today announced the award of three contracts for the Light Rail extension works at a total value of HK$131.6 million.
Contract DB-2010, in the sum of HK$79.3 million, is awarded to Siemens-ONL-KML Consortium for the design, supply and installation of the telecommunication system for the 4.4-kilometre new Light Rail extensions in Tin Shui Wai, the four West Rail/Light Rail interchanges, and the grade separation of the existing Light Rail tracks in Tuen Mun.
Contract DB-2020, in the sum of HK$46.2 million, is awarded to ERG Transit System (Hong Kong) Limited for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the automatic fare collection system for the four West Rail/Light Rail interchanges and the Light Rail stops of the new extensions in Tin Shui Wai.
Contract SP-2021, in the sum of HK$6.1 million, is awarded to Creative Star Limited. The contractor will be responsible for the supply of Octopus readers and writers, as well as to provide technical support services for the contractor of DB-2020.
A KCRC spokesman said the contracts are awarded through the tendering procedures in compliance with World Trade Organization requirements.
The above three contracts are the second batch of works contracts awarded for the Light Rail extension and grade separation project, which involves a total investment of about HK$2.3 billion. Works for the project has commenced in early 2001 and is targeted for completion by the end of 2003 before the commissioning of West Rail Phase I.
