Overnight Test Runs on KCR East Rail
Test runs for the newly purchased East Rail trains and a Mainland through train will be carried out after the close of traffic starting 18 April.
The test runs will only involve about four to five trips in both up and down directions each night. More intensive test runs will be arranged during the initial stage of testing from April to July. "To ensure the performance and reliability of the new trains before commencement of passenger services in East Rail, test runs will have to be carried out after the close of traffic," a spokesman for KCR East Rail said. In order not to affect the train services in the daytime which are used by over 780,000 passengers daily, the test runs can only be carried out in the midnight after the close of traffic.
KCR East Rail apologised for the inconvenience caused.
