Statement on the death of a security guard at a West Rail work site
In response to media enquiries regarding an industrial accident in Kam Tin today (Tuesday), a spokesman for KCR West Rail made the following statement:
At about 4:30 p.m. today, a construction worker employed by a West Rail contractor sustained minor injuries in a site accident.
A security guard, who was not involved in the accident, went to the site office to seek help. He felt ill and was taken to the hospital, where he was subsequently certified dead.
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation was saddened by the death of the security guard and expressed deep sympathy for the family of the deceased.
