KCRC submits bid for SCL
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation today (Thursday) submitted to the Government a bid for the Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL).
The submission was made in response to the Government’s invitation in January 2001 to bid for this project.
The SCL is identified in the Railway Development Strategy 2000 as a new strategic railway corridor that will increase significantly the cross-harbour and Shatin-Kowloon rail capacities and help redistribute the flows and relieve the other railway lines in Hong Kong and Metro Kowloon. More importantly, it will help relieve East Rail and support South East Kowloon Development.
Also at the invitation of the Government, KCRC submitted a proposal last Friday to build and operate the Kowloon Southern Link.
The Kowloon Southern Link is a natural extension of the KCR network. It will connect East Rail and West Rail at the southern ends via Tsim Sha Tsui to provide the travelling public with a convenient and direct transfer between these two railway corridors.
