KCR East Rail Lo Wu cross-boundary services to be extended during the holidays of National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival
KCR East Rail announced today that its Lo Wu cross-boundary services will be extended on 30 September, 1 and 2 October evenings to tie in with the extended boundary operating hours to 12 midnight.
On 30 September, 1 and 2 October, the last train for northbound cross-boundary passengers will depart from Hung Hom Station at 11:07 pm and arrive at Lo Wu Station at 11:45 pm. The last southbound train to Hung Hom Station will depart from Lo Wu Station at 00:30 am and arrive at Hung Hom Station at 01:08 am. Train frequency will be maintained at a 5 to 10-minute interval during the extended period.
"As with the past long holidays, KCR East Rail will closely monitor the flow of passengers to Lo Wu and regulate the train services as required in order to tie in with the handling capacity of the boundary authorities both on Hong Kong and Shenzhen sides. It is noted that the Immigration Department has arranged about 200 additional staff to reinforce the manpower at Lo Wu Control Point and thus smooth cross-boundary traffic is expected. During the three-day holidays of 30 September, 1 and 2 October, we are ready to further extend our services to tie in with the actual closing time of the control point during the holidays," said Mr Michael Kwan, Acting General Manager, East Rail Operations.
If passengers want to enquire the situation at the Lo Wu boundary before starting their journey, they could call the East Rail Customer Services Hotline on 2602 7799 during the holidays. The hotline information will be updated every half an hour.
In addition, KCR East Rail will extend its domestic services between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui stations on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival (early morning of 2 October) with the last southbound and northbound trains depart from Hung Hom and Sheung Shui stations at 2 am. Train frequency will be maintained at a 6 to 10-minute interval from 12:00 midnight to 2 am.
