New era of train travel covered in new Trackrecord

On 4 September the KCRC entered a new era of transport convenience and efficiency with the launch of its next generation of trains. This landmark event was celebrated during the New Train Launching Ceremony and Charity Ride, an event which raised $1.6 million for children and elderly in need and which is covered in the latest issue of Trackrecord.
On hand for the occasion were the Honourable Donald Tsang, Chief Secretary for Administration, senior KCRC management, government officials, members of LegCo, and representatives of elderly and children’s homes.
Also in this issue is a story on the new tunnel option selected for the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line and its implications for transport and the environment in Hong Kong. Another story covers a roving exhibition that was held recently in venues throughout the territory to provide the public with details on the Corporation’s new projects.
Two additional articles in the current issue highlight the Corporation’s involvement in the community. One is about KCRC’s sponsorship of Hong Kong delegates to the Ninth National Games in Guangzhou and the Corporation’s role in carrying the Sacred Fire Bowl for this important event. In the other story, the participation of KCRC volunteers in a recent clean-up campaign is featured with photos illustrating how they played a part in keeping Hong Kong green.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
