KCR through train tickets for Chinese New Year put on sale starting from 16 December 2001
 
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation today announced that through train tickets for journeys between Hung Hom and Guangzhou East/Dongguan (Changping), Foshan/Zhaoqing, Beijing/Shanghai and intermediate stations for the period of Chinese New Year (1 February to 28 February 2002) will be put on sale starting from 16 December 2001 (Sunday) at 6 am.
On the first day of sale (16 December) starting from 6 am, passengers can purchase the tickets at the five designated sales outlets including KCR East Rail Intercity Passenger Services Centre at Hung Hom Station, the ticket office of Shatin Station, China Travel Service (HK) Ltd (only the branch offices at Wanchai and Mong Kok) and China Railway (HK) Holdings Ltd (Head office at Chatham Road South). Starting from 17 December (Monday), through train tickets for Chinese New Year will also be available at all other ticket sales outlets.
Passengers are also welcome to book the tickets through the Intercity Tele-ticketing & Enquiry Hotline on 2947 7888 with credit cards for tickets to Guangdong. To standardize the starting time of ticket sales on 16 December, the service hours of the Intercity Tele-ticketing & Enquiry Hotline will be temporarily changed from 05:00 – midnight to 06:00 – midnight. The hotline service hours will resume normal the next day, 17 December onwards.
