KCRC Chairman briefed on East Rail operations
The new Chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, Mr Michael Tien, was taken on a tour of the East Rail today as part of a series of briefings on KCRC’s existing railway networks and new railway projects.
Accompanied by Mr K Y Yeung, Chief Executive Officer and Mr Y T Li, Director, East Rail, Mr Tien toured the Operations Control Centre and the Ho Tung Lau Maintenance Centre. He was also briefed on East Rail’s operation and maintenance works. Mr Tien also visited Lo Wu Station during the evening peak hours.
East Rail now carries 790,000 passengers a day. Apart from providing domestic passenger service, it also operates mass transit services between Hung Hom and the boundary at Lo Wu.
Mr Tien was also briefed by the senior management on the operational readiness of West Rail, which will commence passenger service in end 2003.
