All-night KCR East Rail domestic train service on Chinese New Year’s Eve
 
KCR East Rail will provide an all night domestic train service on Chinese New Year’s Eve and will strengthen its service during the holidays for the convenience of the travelling public.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve (11 February), an all night train service between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui stations will be provided. From 12 midnight to 2:00 am, trains will run at a frequency of every 6 minutes. From 2:00 am onwards, train service will be maintained at a frequency of every 10-15 minutes.
On 12 & 13 February, the first two days of the Chinese New Year, train service will be extended. The last northbound train to Sheung Shui will depart Hung Hom at 2:00 am, while the last southbound train to Hung Hom will depart Sheung Shui at 2:00 am.
On 13 February, the second day of Chinese New Year, train service between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui will be strengthened after the fireworks display at Victoria Harbour and trains will run at a frequency of every 4 minutes between 8:30 pm and 10:00 pm.
On 14 February, the third day of Chinese New Year, train service will also be strengthened to facilitate passengers going to Che Kung Temple and Shatin Racecourse.
"As with the past long holidays, KCR East Rail will closely monitor the flow of passengers to Lo Wu and regulate the train service as required in order to tie in with the handling capacity of the boundary authorities both on Hong Kong and Shenzhen sides. It is noted that the Immigration Department has arranged additional staff to reinforce the manpower at Lo Wu Control Point and thus smooth cross-boundary traffic is expected," said Mr Anthony Yan, Acting General Manager, East Rail Operations.
