KCRC launches Charity Booth at five East Rail stations
To support charitable activities, KCR East Rail launches the "KCR Charity Booth" at five stations free for use by charitable organisations
A Launching Ceremony for the KCR Charity Booth at Hung Hom Station was held today. To raise fund for the Community Chest of Hong Kong, an artifacts corner comprising Chinese calligraphy demonstration, cultural dance and charity sale was held after the ceremony.
At the Launching Ceremony, Mr Y T Li, Director of East Rail said KCRC has a strong tradition of supporting worthwhile charities. Every year, various charity functions are organised to raise funds for those in need in Hong Kong and the Mainland. Mr Li said KCRC also spared no effort in sponsoring and facilitating charitable organisations to organise fund-raising and promotion activities by offering station facilities and venues free of charge. Last year, we received about 500 requests for the use of station facilities for charitable organizations to carry out activities such as charity sale, recruitment of volunteers and flag selling etc. The number of requests is on the rise.
"To enable charitable activities to take place at stations without affecting the train operation and passenger flow, we have selected five locations at Hung Hom, Mongkok, Kowloon Tong, Shatin and Tai Po Market stations for the set up of the Charity Booth free for use by charitable organisations," Mr Li added.
The roving charity artifacts corner will be staged at Hung Hom, Tai Po Market, Kowloon Tong, Shatin and Mongkok stations in the next five days and all the proceeds collected will be donated to the Community Chest of Hong Kong.
The Charity Booth at the five stations is free of charge. For enquiries, please contact the East Rail Public Affairs Section on: 2688 1288 or by fax: 2688 0260.
