Sale of The Metropolis by open tender
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation and Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited today jointly announced the sale by open tender of the Phase I joint venture development at The Metropolis in Hung Hom.
The properties, comprising a hotel, retail and office accommodation, are centrally located next to the future mass transportation centre at Hung Hom Station where all existing domestic and inter-city services of East Rail now terminate. The station will further strengthen its role as a transportation hub by way of the opening of the Kowloon Southern Link which will link up East Rail and West Rail, and the Shatin to Central Link.
The hotel is accommodated in a 12-storey block with 688 guest rooms and two premier suites. Facilities will include a café, a swimming pool, a business centre, a gymnasium, and two restaurants. The property has a gross floor area of about 449,160 sq ft, including about 18,600 sq ft for a Chinese restaurant. It will be sold together with six car parking spaces and two loading bays.
The retail accommodation is located in a three-storey podium, which has a gross floor area of about 344,340 sq ft, suitable for use as shops, supermarkets and eateries. Tenders are invited for the whole accommodation, which will be sold together with 141 car parking spaces, 38 coach parking spaces and 34 loading bays.
The office accommodation is housed in a 15-storey block, which provides about 253,000 sq ft of gross floor area. It will be sold on a floor-by-floor basis with an average gross floor area of about 16,840 sq ft on each floor. A total of 98 car parking spaces and five loading bays are available for allocation to buyers.
The above properties are sold on an "as is" basis with vacant possession. Tender forms will be available for collection from 19 April 2002 (Friday) from Messrs P.C. Woo & Co., Prince’s Building, Central. Anyone who is interested in submitting a bid must complete and return the tender form together with a bona fide deposit in the form of a cashier order of HK$10 million for either the hotel or retail accommodation and of HK$3 million for an office floor. The submissions must be placed in the tender box of Messrs Johnson Stokes and Master, Prince’s Building, Central before 12 noon on 6 May 2002 (Monday).
