Community liaison of Tsim Sha Tsui Extension moving ahead
 
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) held the 6th Community Liaison Group (CLG) Meeting on 13 June 2002. Residents and shop operators along Mody Road and Middle Road were briefed about the latest development of the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension project.
A KCRC spokesman said, "We understand that residents and shop operators there have been very tolerant with the current construction works.Through these regular CLG meetings, we are improving their understanding of the progress of works and addressing their concerns."
Apart from representatives of local residents and shop operators, the CLG consists of members of Yau Tsim Mong District Council, Tsim Sha Tsui Area Committee and representatives from Government departments.?Views are exchanged on works progress, temporary traffic arrangements and hoarding plans at the CLG.
The spokesman said, "In addition to the CLG, the Corporation has set up a Community Liaison Office at Wing On Plaza to provide direct and prompt response to the nearby residents and shop operators."
"Our Community Liaison Officer at the Office pays door-to-door visits to shop operators and residents to maintain an effective two-way dialogue with them and address their concerns arising from the construction activities."
"Members of the public can also obtain the latest project information through our East Rail Extensions Hotline at 2929 6699."
Construction of the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension, now in full swing, is about 32% complete.The new extension will bring East Rail southwards by 1 kilometer to Tsim Sha Tsui.In addition, a pedestrian subway link will be built to connect the new KCR East Tsim Sha Tsui Station with the MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station.The East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and the subway link will open concurrently in 2004.
