East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip & Charity Fun Fair receives good response
 
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) organised an ‘East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip & Charity Fun Fair’ in KCRC Shatin Freight Yard today which was attended by over 3,000 members of the public.
Mr Y T Li, Director, East Rail of KCRC, Mr Wai Kwok Hung, JP, Chairman, Sha Tin District Council, Mr Pang Hang Yin, JP, Chairman, North District Council, Mr Cheng Chun Ping, JP, Vice-Chairman, Tai Po District Council and The Hon. Dr. C K Law, JP, Chairman, ‘Senior Citizen Home Safety Association’ officiated at the opening ceremony today.
A retired first generation train, furnished as a classroom, stabled at Shatin Freight Yard for visit and photo-taking by the public.
Apart from a Giant Painting Competition, on stage performance, exhibitions, game booths and charity sale of artefacts were organized. KCRC will donate all the proceeds of the charity sale to ‘Senior Citizen Home Safety Association’ for the installation of personal emergency links for the elderly.
‘East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip & Charity Fun Fair’ is one of the major events of the ‘KCRC Cares’ programme which has the objectives of strengthening the tie between KCRC and the community, and encouraging the public to be more positive when coming across difficulties.
Apart from the ‘East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip’, under the umbrella programme of ‘KCRC Cares’, a Blood Donation Week will be held in late August, and an ‘East Rail Art Trips’ comprising performances by able and disabled people will be organised at various East Rail stations every month.
