KCRC's commitment of caring covered in the new Trackrecord

KCRC has long had a caring commitment to the community. This commitment was reaffirmed on 30 June, when East Rail kicked off its "KCRC Cares" programme with an Opening Ceremony at New Town Plaza, Sha Tin.
The event, which is covered in the latest issue of Trackrecord, included entertainment by disabled artistes who sang, danced and performed dramatic sketches in front of a large crowd of spectators. The "KCRC Cares" programme, running until December 2002, consists of a number of different activities such as art tours, an East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip and Charity Fun Fair, and a Blood Donation Week.
Also covered in the current issue is the KCRC annual report for 2001 picked up five awards at the ARC Awards in New York, the world’s largest annual report competition. The awards won by the Corporation include a Gold for Written Text, a Silver for Cover Photo/Design, a Bronze for Overall Annual Report, an Honors for Photography and an Honors for On-line Annual Reports, all in the Railroad category.
Another story in this issue looks at the visit made by a group of representatives from New York City Transit to KCRC. As New York is currently building an additional subway line, the members of the group were interested in learning from the Corporation’s experience on West Rail, since both railways make extensive use of tunnelling through densely populated areas.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
