East Rail Blood Donation Week kicks off today
 
The opening ceremony of the East Rail Blood Donation Week was held today (26 August 2002) at East Rail Shatin Station to kick off a blood donation campaign jointly organised by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre.
Officiating at the opening ceremony were Mr Anthony Yan, General Manager, East Rail Operations (Acting), Mr Yeung Cheung Li, Chairman, Sha Tin District Council Traffic & Transport Committee and Dr Li Cheuk Kwong, Senior Medical Officer, Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Centre.
East Rail Blood Donation Week is part of the ‘KCRC Cares Programme’ launched in June this year. The programme includes the ‘East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip and Charity Fun Fair’ and ‘East Rail Art trips’ which are aimed at strengthening the ties between KCRC and the community.
Following the blood donation drive at Shatin Station, the campaign will continue at East Rail Hung Hom and Fanling stations according to the following schedule:

The Blood Donation Campaign held at East Rail Sha Tin Station was well supported by the public.
