Point machine failure disrupts East Rail service
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today regretted for the inconvenience caused to its passengers by a service disruption due to a point machine failure north of Fo Tan Station.
A spokesman for the KCRC said the incident happened at about 4:40 pm when the point machine lost power supply. Such equipment is maintained on a regular basis and a detailed investigation has commenced.
Train services between Fo Tan and Tai Po Market stations were affected. Emergency repair services were carried out and normal train services resumed at 4:59 pm.
The spokesman said every effort had been made to minimize the impact on services.
During the affected period, passengers were informed of the disruption through public announcement system. In total, about 4,500 passengers were affected.
