New Trackrecord covers additions to Sha Tin to Central Link

In the current issue of Trackrecord, we look at the additions to the Sha Tin to Central Link (SCL) introduced by KCRC in August. These enhancements, which were made in response to a request by the Government, are part of the Corporation’s commitment to meet the transport needs of Hong Kong people.
The additions include a station at Tsz Wan Shan and an automated people-mover system at Whampoa linking the area to the SCL. Provisions have also been made for the construction of a station at Hin Keng in Sha Tin when the population in the area reaches 50,000.
Also covered in the current issue is a story on the "East Rail Nostalgic Train Trip & Charity Fun Fair" held at Sha Tin Freight Yard on 27 July. Attended by over 3,000 members of the public, the event featured a display of a first generation electric train, educational exhibits, a "Giant Painting Competition", stage performances, game booths and a craft sale. Proceeds from the craft sale were donated to charity.
Other stories in the current Trackrecord include the laying of the last rail at West Rail on 20 August, a major milestone in this landmark project; the courtesy campaign held by Light Rail throughout the month of August; and visits by Dr Sarah Liao, the new Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, and Mrs Rita Lau, Permanent Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works (Environment).
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
