Awarding of Kowloon Southern Link covered in New Trackrecord

An important announcement by the Hong Kong SAR Government - the invitation to KCRC to build and operate the Kowloon Southern Link (KSL) - is covered in the current issue of Trackrecord.
The Kowloon Southern Link, which is one of the projects recommended in the Government's Railway Development Strategy 2000, will run 4.5 kilometres. The project is expected to get underway in mid 2004 and be completed in late 2008/early 2009 at a cost of $9.2 billion (in 2000 prices). About 3,000 job opportunities will be created in the construction of this strategic new rail link that will join West Rail and East Rail.
Also in Trackrecord we look at "KCRC Careers Day", a job information and recruitment fair that was held on 15 September at KCRC House in preparation for the opening of West Rail. More than 2,700 job seekers turned out for the event, despite heavy rains. Through "KCRC Careers Day" and other recruiting activities, around 500 applicants will be hired.
Another story in the current issue reports on East Rail's community relations programme, "KCRC Cares" Now underway for over two months, activities in this programme included Blood Donation Week, a tour of KCRC for young immigrants to Hong Kong, and the East Rail Art Trips with performances and exhibitions by disabled artists.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation's key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
