KCRC announces stop names for new Light Rail Extensions
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today announces the stop names for the two new Light Rail Extensions in Tin Shui Wai due for completion in September 2003.
The two new Light Rail extensions, being constructed at a cost of about $0.9 billion, are the Tin Shui Wai Phase 4 Extension and the Tin Shui Wai Reserve Zone Extension.
With a route length of 1.7 kilometres, the Tin Shui Wai Phase 4 Extension will have four stops. They will be named Tin Shui Wai, Tin Tsz, Tin Wu and Ginza.
The 2.7 kilometres Tin Shui Wai Reserve Zone Extension will have seven stops, and they will be named Chung Fu, Tin Fu, Tin Yat, Tin Heng, Wetland Park, Tin Sau and Tin Yuet.
The Corporation also took this opportunity to rename four existing Light Rail stops either to bring them in line with the name of West Rail station which will interchange with Light Rail, or updated landmarks in the areas Light Rail is serving.
Tin Shui Wai Terminus will be renamed as Tin Wing, San Fat as Tuen Mun, Technical Institute as Tsing Wun, and San Shek Wan as Lung Mun.
In general, members of Yuen Long and Tuen Mun District Councils supported the new names when they were consulted recently.
The new names will take effect when the new Light Rail extensions commence service. In the meantime, publicity will be arranged to familiarize passengers with the new names.
