Mr Ian Thoms, Director of West Rail, awarded International Medal
 
Mr Ian M Thoms, Director of West Rail, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, was awarded the International Medal for 2002 by the UK Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) during the Annual Awards Ceremony held on 5 November 2002 in recognition of his contribution during the past 26 years in the development of Hong Kong’s railway and road structure..
Mr Thoms had been involved in building the initial MTRC Lines and the Lantau and Airport Railway Project. He joined KCRC as Director of West Rail to take charge of the West Rail Phase I Project in April 1998.
The ICE International Medal is awarded to a UK civil engineer with outstanding contribution to civil engineering outside the UK. Awardees are picked both for their track record and the level of civil engineering achievement on their current projects.
