Overwhelming response to "West Rail Coming Soon" community involvement programme
The "West Rail Coming Soon" community involvement programme staged by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation at Tuen Mun Town Plaza attracted more than 3,000 visitors during the past four days (3 - 6 December). A variety of programmes including exhibition, video show, game stall and "West Rail Café" has been organised with an objective to familiarise the travelling public with the West Rail system and service features in a light-hearted manner.
The exhibition covers the service features as well as the facilities of individual West Rail station. Two game stalls are put up to enhance public understanding of the railway through interesting games. A virtual ride video featuring the beautiful scenery along the alignment and the service features of West Rail is shown, enabling the public to experience a journey from Tuen Mun to Nam Cheong prior to the opening of West Rail.
The "West Rail Café" held in the evening of 4 December was attended by about 250 potential passengers. The West Rail management has learned more about public opinion on and expectation of West Rail through face to face discussion.
After the Tuen Mun Town Plaza, the "West Rail Coming Soon" roving exhibition and "West Rail Café " will be staged at other major shopping arcades along the West Rail alignment in the next few weeks. Details are as follows:
12-15 December Sun Yuen Long Centre (Main Atrium, Level 2)
