Dongguan (Changping) – Kowloon Through Train service strengthened
With effect from today, Dongguan (Changping) – Kowloon Through Train will be operated every week from Tuesday to Sunday and on Public Holidays. The northbound train T818 is scheduled to depart KCR Hung Hom Station at 6:15 pm and arrive at Dongguan (Changping) at 7:22 pm; while the southbound train T823 is scheduled to depart Dongguan (Changping) at 7:50 pm and arrive at Hung Hom at 8:57 pm. This service will be operated by the Mainland’s semi-high speed train with a seating capacity of 586.
The strengthening of through train services between Dongguan and Kowloon was announced by Dongguan Changping Town Government at a ceremony in Dongguan (Changping) Station today.
At present, there are seven pairs of through train running between Guangzhou and Kowloon, of which three pairs of train stop at Dongguan (Changping) Station. A pair of Dongguan (Changping) – Kowloon Through Train was introduced in June 2001 and has been well received by travelers. The patronage of the period between September and November 2002 has increased by 8%, compared with the same period of last year.
Dongguan (Changping) – Kowloon Through Train tickets are available at HK$145 for adults and $73 for children. Starting from today, tickets will be available at the Intercity Passenger Services Centre located in KCR Hung Hom Station, the ticket offices of Mongkok, Kowloon Tong and Shatin stations; the Customer Services Centres of Light Rail Tuen Mun Ferry Pier Terminus and Tin Yiu Stop; and the outlets of appointed ticketing agents.
