SPiling test records

In response to press enquiries on an ICAC case involving alleged manipulation of piling test records at West Rail’s Nam Cheong Station site, a spokesman for the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) said today (Thursday) that the piles in question are for supporting future property development and do not affect the station or the railway.
He said all works were carried out under the supervision of KCRC’s Detailed Design Consultant which is responsible for ensuring that all works procedures are in compliance with requirements under the Buildings Ordinance.
"The completed piles have passed all of the statutory inspections, load tests and approval process.
"The target opening date of West Rail in September this year will not be affected," he said.
The spokesman added that the Corporation’s senior management was aware of the investigation and has given the ICAC its full cooperation.
