All-night KCR East Rail domestic train service on Chinese New Year’s Eve
 
KCR East Rail will provide an all night domestic train service on Chinese New Year’s Eve and will strengthen its service during the holidays for the convenience of the travelling public.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve (31 January), an all night train service between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui stations will be provided. From 12 midnight to 2:00 am, trains will run at a frequency of every 6 minutes. From 2:00 am onwards, train service will be maintained at a frequency of every 10-15 minutes.
On 1 & 2 February, the first two days of the Chinese New Year, train service will be extended. The last northbound train to Sheung Shui will depart Hung Hom at 2:00 am, while the last southbound train to Hung Hom will depart Sheung Shui at 2:00 am.
On 2 February, the second day of the Chinese New Year, train service between Hung Hom and Sheung Shui will be strengthened after the fireworks display at Victoria Harbour and trains will run at a frequency of every 4 minutes between 8:30 pm and 10:00 pm.
On 3 February, the third day of Chinese New Year, train service will also be strengthened to facilitate passengers going to Che Kung Temple and Shatin Racecourse.
In view of an expected surge in the number of travellers going to the Mainland via Lo Wu during the Chinese New Year holiday period, KCR East Rail will closely monitor passenger traffic and regulate train services of Lo Wu to ensure a smooth operation.
A spokesman for the Kowloon-Canon Railway Corporation said close co-ordination will be maintained with government departments and boundary authorities during the holiday. Train services will be regulated to tie in with the handling capacity of the boundary authorities both on Hong Kong and Shenzhen sides during peak period.
The spokesman also reminded passengers to pay attention to the opening hours of the Lo Wu boundary when planning their journey. During the holiday period, the departure time of the last northbound train to Lo Wu will remain unchanged and depart from Hung Hom at 11:07 pm.
