External construction works disrupted KCR East Rail service
KCR East Rail service between Mong Kok and Hung Hom was slightly affected between 3:30pm and 4:30pm this afternoon when water seeped into the railway tunnel underneath Princess Margaret Road.
The water leakage was due to a pipe rupture caused by a CLP contractor working outside the KCRC premises at the junction of Wylie Road and Princess Margaret Road.
Because of water and sand ingress onto the railway track, KCRC had to operate train services on a single line at a 10-minute headway between Hung Hom and Mong Kok.
The affected line was reopened at 4:30 pm and full service was resumed on both lines.
A KCRC spokesman said the incident took place during non-peak hours and the impact on passenger services was minimal.
The spokesman further added that KCRC would follow up the matter with the responsible parties.
