Official groundbreaking of Lok Ma Chau Spur Line featured in new issue of Trackrecord
In the current issue of Trackrecord we cover the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, which took place on 9 January 2003. The ceremony for the Spur Line, which is one of the three East Rail Extensions projects, was officiated by Dr Sarah Liao, Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works; Mr Michael Tien, Chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC); senior management of the Corporation; and other VIP guests. Providing a second rail crossing to the boundary with the Mainland, the Spur Line is scheduled for completion before the end of 2006.
Also in the current issue we announce the appointment of seven expert members to the committees of the Corporation’s Managing Board. These members, who have been invited to help the Board monitor the work of KCRC, will serve for a period of one year on a renewable basis.
Other stories in this month’s issue include a look at Light Rail’s move into the West Rail Building; the Asia Logistics award won by KCRC’s Freight Department; and the naming of KCRC as a "Caring Company". This latter award, which is part of the new Caring Company scheme organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services, was granted to the Corporation in recognition of its many initiatives on behalf of the community.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
