Inauguration of new home for West Rail covered in current issue of Trackrecord

In the lead-up to the start of West Rail operations later this year, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) recently opened a new headquarters for the West Rail Division. The inauguration ceremony for the West Rail Building, along with a story on the progress of West Rail works, is covered in the current issue of Trackrecord.
Also in the current issue is an announcement of the appointment of Mr Samuel Lai, Senior Director, Finance and Management, to the position of Acting CEO. He will officially take over this position in October 2003, when Mr K Y Yeung goes on end-of-contract leave before retiring from the Corporation.
Another of KCRC’s capital projects – the East Rail Extensions – has also been making excellent progress. In this month’s Trackrecord, we cover the topping-out of Wu Kai Sha Station, which will serve as the terminus for Ma On Shan Rail. The Chairman of KCRC, Mr Michael Tien, was on hand to officiate at the ceremony, during which he mentioned that the civil works for Ma On Shan Rail were 75% complete. Mrs Rita Lau, Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, was the guest of honour at the ceremony.
Other stories in the current issue look at the initiative taken by the Corporation to distribute free face masks to passengers to help prevent the spread of SARS and the card campaign organised by KCRC in support of the medical staff at Prince of Wales Hospital.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
