Five District Councils visit KCR East Rail today

To promote communication between the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and the community, KCRC organised a visit to the Ho Tung Lau Maintenance Centre for the members of five District Councils along East Rail today. They included members from Yau Tsim Mong, Kowloon City, Shatin, Tai Po and North District Councils. A total of 80 District Council members took part in the visit and exchanged their views on the services provided by East Rail.
Mr Y T Li, Director, East Rail and Mr Anthony Yan, General Manager – East Rail Operations gave an update on East Rail’s improvement plans. The briefing was followed by a tour of the Ho Tung Lau Maintenance Centre, where members were given a chance to visit the heavy maintenance workshop, cab simulator and Ktt coaches.
Mr Li said in his opening address that East Rail has achieved a high standard of safety, productivity and service quality comparable to international railways. In addition to the Corporation’s ongoing investment in service improvements, the support of business associates and the community is also important.
"We have established a good rapport with the District Councils and an effective communication channel through our regular attendance at District Council meetings. As an integral part of the community, KCRC will continue to actively participate in community affairs," Mr Li said.
