Launch of an additional pair of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) announced that an additional pair of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains will be launched on 28 June 2003, which will increase the frequency of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train service to eight pairs every day.
The eighth pair of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains will be operated daily. The northbound train T822 is scheduled to depart from KCR Hung Hom Station at 7:30 am and arrive at Guangzhou East Station at 9:07 am; while the southbound train T821 is scheduled to depart Guangzhou East Station at 6:20 pm and arrive at Hung Hom Station at 7:57 pm. The new service will be operated by the Mainland’s semi-high speed train which has a seating capacity of 586 passengers. The journey time is about 97 minutes.
On 28 June, due to regulation of train services, only the southbound train (T821) will be available. From 29 June onwards, both T822 and T821 will be operated on a daily basis.
Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train tickets are available at HK$190 for adults and HK$95 for children. Starting from tomorrow (21 June), tickets will be available at the Intercity Passenger Services Centre located in KCR Hung Hom Station, the ticket offices of Mong Kok, Kowloon Tong and Sha Tin stations, the Customer Services Centres of Light Rail Tuen Mun Ferry Pier Terminus and Tin Yiu Stop; and the outlets of appointed ticketing agents. Passengers can also call the Intercity Tele-ticketing and Enquiry Hotline on 2947 7888 for booking tickets by credit card.
