KCRC awards contract for Sheung Shui Station improvement works
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today (Friday) announced the award of a HK$138 million civil construction contract for the improvement works of Sheung Shui Station to Sun Fook Kong (Civil) Limited.
The works involve the extension of the station concourse to the south by 40m; addition of an entrance/exit at the extended concourse which links to the footbridges of Sheung Shui Centre and Yuk Po Court; widening of the northbound platform from 4m to 10m with an awning; and erection of a traction power feeder station.
Upon completion of the works, Sheung Shui Station will be more spacious and equipped with more facilities to provide an upgraded service to passengers. The works are scheduled for completion by July 2006.
The improvement works for Sheung Shui Station will facilitate the opening of the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line in 2007. The Spur Line is an extension of East Rail which branches off the existing East Rail north of Sheung Shui and runs northwest to terminate at Lok Ma Chau Station.
