East Rail track remodelling project covered in new Trackrecord
It’s been described as KCR East Rail’s project of the new millennium, and for the 300 staff of Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) who took part in the overnight remodelling of the tracks at Hung Hom Station on 26 July, this was no exaggeration. During the project, teams of workers reconfigured more than 180 metres of track in just eight hours and were able to do so with minimal disruption of service to passengers. The story of this impressive feat is carried in the latest issue of Trackrecord.
Other stories in the new issue cover the progress of construction on the projects now being carried out by the Corporation. These include Ma On Shan (MOS) Rail, the Lok Ma Cha Spur Line and the Lo Wu station renovation works.
Also featured is a story on the MOS Rail Summer Fun festival. With this project on track for its completion at the end of 2004, KCRC has been holding community events in the Ma On Shan area to familiarise residents with the new railway and provide them with entertainment during the summer months.
Finally, KCRC has joined the Government’s Team Clean programme by forming its own Keep East Rail Clean ambassador team. In this story we describe how this team comprised of students, passengers and Passenger Liaison Group members has been playing a part to help promote KCRC by-laws against spitting and littering.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
