"New look for a new era" – the unveiling of the new KCRC uniforms featured in Trackrecord
On 22 August at Hung Hom Station, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) unveiled the new uniforms that will be worn by the 3,500 frontline staff of the Corporation. Smart and stylish but also practical for everyday wear, the uniforms represent a "new look for a new era" and will be worn starting from the day that West Rail goes into service later this year.
The unveiling of the new uniforms is featured in the current issue of Trackrecord. Also in the new issue are stories on developments at Light Rail, on which works are being carried out to transform the system into a feeder network for West Rail, while maintaining its role as the main mode of transport for residents within the northwest New Territories.
One of these stories looks at the commissioning of the new Light Rail viaduct at Pui To Road in Tuen Mun. With the completion of this grade separation project, Light Rail will be safer and more efficient, and save time for passengers. Other Light Rail stories cover the overnight works that were undertaken to complete the viaduct, the renaming of four Light Rail stops, and a drill in preparation for the opening of the viaduct and Tin Shui Wai extensions.
Another story in the current issue follows a visit to Hong Chi Pinehill No 3 School — a facility that provides care for mentally disabled children — by KCRC staff. At the school the visitors presented a cheque for $74,000 raised by them in the 2003 Standard Chartered Marathon. The funds will go towards the purchase of therapeutic equipment needed by the children at the school.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
