East Rail train service arrangements during National Day Golden Week holiday
 
In view of an expected surge in the number of visitors arriving and leaving Hong Kong via the Lo Wu boundary during the National Day Golden Week holiday, KCR East Rail will strengthen its Lo Wu train services. Passenger traffic will be closely monitored and train service regulated to ensure a smooth operation.
Golden Week
Between 30 September and 7 October, KCR East Rail will strengthen its Lo Wu train services during peak hours and increase manpower at Lo Wu Station to offer assistance to arrival passengers to use East Rail services.
A spokesman for the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation said close coordination will be maintained with government departments and the boundary authorities. Train services will be regulated to tie in with the handling capacity of the boundary facilities both on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen sides during the peak period.
He advised passengers to follow the instruction of station staff and take note of the opening hours of the boundary when planning their journey. The first northbound train departs from Hung Hom Station at 5:30 am, while the last northbound train departs from Hung Hom Station at 11:07 pm.
Firework Display
Additionally, East Rail will strengthen train service to cope with passenger demand for the fireworks display to be held at Victoria Harbour on the evenings of 1, 5 and 12 October. Between 9:30 pm and 11 pm on 1 October, a total of eight additional trains will run from Hung Hom to Sheung Shui stations. Train service will be strengthened to a frequency of about 4 minutes. On 5 and 12 October, domestic service will be strengthened to a frequency of about 4 minutes between 8:30 pm and 10 pm.
