KCRC beefs up services for the Northwest New Territories

To further beef up services in the Northwest New Territories, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will introduce a new supplementary bus route between Tin Shui and Tuen Mun Town Centre on Friday, 10 October.
The new service will be provided by 12 additional buses hired from New World First Bus Services Limited.
The new K2P route will supplement the existing Light Rail service by operating during morning and evening peak hours from 6:30am to 9:30am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
The service will be operated until the KCRC transport services and capacity in the Northwest New Territories are increased substantially with the opening of West Rail and the new Light Rail Tin Shui Wai Extensions.
Mr Jonathan Yu, Director, Light Rail said, "To meet the changing transport demand in the Northwest New Territories prior to the opening of the new KCR services, we have since September strengthened existing services by deploying more light rail vehicles and buses, reducing vehicle layover times at termini, and deploying more platform assistants and traffic staff at stops."
"The new supplementary route will help meet demand from more people moving into new housing developments in Tin Shui Wai. We will monitor the situation closely with a view to ensuring that the transport demand there is met," Mr Yu said.
The adult fare of the new route will be $4.4 and the child fare $2.2. There will be 12 buses running on this route at a frequency of seven to eight minutes.
For further details about the route, passengers can call the Light Rail hotline at 2468 7788.
