Launch of two additional pairs of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains

To meet passenger demand for through train services, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and the Mainland railway authorities will strengthen the service of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains. Starting from 20 October 2003, two additional pairs of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Trains will be launched, which will increase the frequency of Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train service from eight pairs to ten pairs every day.
A KCRC spokesman said the tremendous support rendered by the Mainland and HKSAR government was crucial to the addition of the GZTT services. It was also one of the major fruitful results achieved by the Hong Kong/Guangdong Cooperation Joint Conference.
Detailed arrangements for the ninth pair of GZTT are: T825 (southbound), using semi-high speed train, departs from Guangzhou East at 7:05 pm and arrives at Hung Hom at 8:52 pm, calling at Dongguan. T804 (northbound), using xinshisu, departs from Hung Hom at 5:40 pm and arrives at Guangzhou East at 7:12 pm.
Detailed arrangements for the tenth pair of GZTT are: T827 (southbound), using semi-high speed train, departs from Guangzhou East at 9:00 pm and arrives at Hung Hom at 10:37 pm. T828 (northbound), using semi-high speed train, departs from Hung Hom at 6:40 pm and arrives at Guangzhou East at 8:17 pm.
Starting from 20 October, due to train regulations, T804 (originally scheduled for departure from Hung Hom Station at 4:45 pm) will be re-numbered to T826. A semi-high speed train set will be used and its departure time will be changed to 4:35 pm.
Upon the addition of two pairs of GZTT on 20 October 2003, GZTT calling at Dongguan will increase from four pairs to six pairs in total for passenger convenience.
