|The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today (Saturday) announced that the West Rail Charity Trial Rides, originally scheduled for 17 & 18 December 2003, has now been advanced to begin on 16 December 2003.|
|Enthusiastic response met yesterday’s announcement on the Charity Rides. KCRC Chairman Mr Michael Tien said, "The Corporation has decided to put forward the date of the Rides with the support of other transport companies. This extension will also raise more funds for the needy."
|The West Rail Charity Trial Rides will be held on three consecutive days from 16 December to 18 December (Tuesday to Thursday). The rides will be held on 16 December from 10:00 am to 12:45 am the following day, and on 17 and 18 December from 5:45 am to 12:45 am the following day.|
|The event is held to familiarise the public with West Rail train services, and, at the same time, provide a chance for operation staff to handle passengers and understand their expectations. This will help them to provide a pleasant and smooth journey for passengers after West Rail is commissioned.|
|A flat fare of $15 for adults and $7.5 for children and senior citizens will be charged for all journeys during the Trial Rides. All proceeds will be donated to charity.|
|West Rail passengers using Octopus can enjoy free Light Rail/KCR bus feeder services during the Trial Rides. The concession offered to passengers interchanging between West Rail and bus/green mini bus will be launched on 20 December when West Rail commences passenger service.|
|Interested parties can call the KCRC Hotline on 2929 3399 for details.
|West Rail will open to the public at 2:00pm on 20 December 2003.|
