New issue of Trackrecord released

In the lead-up to the opening of West Rail, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) organized West Rail Station Open Days for two weekends between 29 November and 7 December, when more than 100,000 visitors turned up to try out the ultra-modern facilities.
This popular event is covered in the current issue of Trackrecord. Also included in the issue is a feature story on a Senior Train Controller, the key player in West Rail’s Operations Control Centre (OCC).
Another feature story highlights the Corporation’s Rolling Stock Design Section, which in 10 years’ time has come up with three signature designs of which the KCRC can be justifiably proud.
In other stories we look at the efforts made by KCRC and its staff to contribute to the less fortunate in our community. These include features on the Corporation’s donations to the Community Chest, continuing support of those in the industries affected by SARS, facilities for the disabled and its on-going involvement in the Lifeline Express, which provides free medical care to patients suffering from cataracts in the Mainland.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
