Two KCRC temporary bus routes to be withdrawn

Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) announced today (13 January) that two temporary bus routes operating in parallel with the Light Rail service will cease operating due to very low utilization rate from tomorrow (14 January).
The two temporary bus routes are:
• K66S (Chestwood – West Rail Tin Shui Wai Station); and
• K67S (San Wai – West Rail Siu Hong Station)
A spokesman for KCRC said the above routes were among the six bus routes that were introduced as a temporary measure to tie in the opening of West Rail and the new Light Rail extensions.
The spokesman added, as passengers were gradually getting used to the new service arrangements, the utilisation rate of the two routes became very low and it would be a waste of resources to continue operating these two routes. Passengers currently using these two bus routes may choose to use Light Rail for free interchange with West Rail.
The Corporation will continue to waive the fares for the other four bus routes, including K2P (Tin Shui Wai Town Centre Bus Terminus – Tuen Mun Town Centre), K76 (Tin Heng – West Rail Siu Hong Station), K62S (Tin Shui Wai Town Centre – Yuen Long East) and K75P (Tin Shui – Hung Shui Kiu). The service level of these four routes will remain unchanged.
To ensure that passengers are aware of the service arrangements, sufficient notices will be posted up at stops and sent out to housing estates in the vicinity. Public announcements will also be made at Light Rail platforms to inform passengers.
For enquiries, passengers may call the KCRC hotline at 2929 3399.
