New KCR bus routes to be introduced
The Kowloon Canton-Railway Corporation (KCRC) will introduce two new feeder bus routes, K66 and K68, on 18 January 2004 (Sunday) in order to bring greater convenience to West Rail passengers.
Route K66 (Tai Tong – Long Ping) will operate at a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes from 6:00 am to 11:20 pm, and route K68 (Yuen Long Town Park – Yuen Long Industrial Estate) will run at a frequency of 12 to 15 minutes from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Adult fares for both routes are $3.7 for air-conditioned buses and $3.4 for non air-conditioned buses. West Rail and Light Rail passengers using these routes are not required to pay extra fare. Passengers of K66 and K68 will have a free interchange between these two routes.
Both new feeder bus routes will stop at the public transport interchange at Long Ping Station of West Rail. They will cover the areas currently served by KCR bus route 656 (Tai Tong – Yuen Long Industrial Estate). As a result, 656 will be withdrawn on the same day.
Also with effect on 18 January 2004 (Sunday), temporary bus route 659 (Tin Heng – Tin Shui Wai Town Centre Bus Terminus) which was introduced as a temporary service in connection with the opening of the Tin Shui Wai Extension, will stop operating.
On 26 January 2004 (Monday), bus route K2X (Tin Shui – Tuen Mun Ferry Pier), which also has a very low patronage, will be withdrawn.
KCRC has prepared publicity materials such as notices and public announcements to inform the public of the new arrangements. For enquiries, passengers may call the KCRC Hotline at 2929 3399.
