New issue of Trackrecord covers two ceremonies officiated by Acting CEO

In the current issue of Trackrecord, we report on two events in which the new Acting Chief Executive Officer of Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), Mr Samuel Lai, played a major role.
One was the hand-over ceremony of five new environmentally-friendly diesel locomotives, which are now being used to haul freight trains and engineering trains along East Rail. During the ceremony, Mr Lai said that the new locomotives, which emit less smoke and generate less noise, are part of the ongoing investment KCRC makes to protect the environment.
Another ceremony, also officiated by Mr Lai, commemorated the laying of the last rail for the 11.4-kilometre Ma On Shan Rail. Mr Lai himself installed the last rail clip for this project, which is now 90% complete.
Also in the current issue we announce the appointments to the Managing Board on 30 January of the Honourable Mr Abraham Shek Lai-him and Professor Richard Wong Yue-chim, who succeed Mr Patrick Wang Shui-chung and Mr Victor So Hing-woh.
In other stories, we look at the refurbished KCRC property — Citylink Plaza — and the success of its new shops; the presentation of a cheque for funds raised during the West Rail Charity Rides; and the measures being taken to keep KCR trains and stations clean and hygienic during the flu season.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, consulates, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
