Light Rail service in Tin Shui Wai partially interrupted
(16 April 2004, Hong Kong) Light Rail service in Tin Shui Wai area was partially interrupted this morning after a light rail vehicle on route 701 went off the track when approaching Tin Wing Stop at about 5:35 a.m.
Normal service was resumed at about 7:45 a.m. after urgent repairs. There was no passenger onboard the light rail vehicle. No one was injured in the incident.
During the incident, service of route 701 (Tin Shui Wai South circular) was suspended while routes 751 (Yau Oi - Tin Yat) and 761 (Tin Wing – Yuen Long) were diverted. Passengers were advised to use other alternative Light Rail routes or the emergency feeder bus service.
A total of 24 feeder buses were deployed to operate two routes, one between Tin Wing and Yuen Long and the other as a Tin Shui Wai circular at a frequency of three to four minutes to supplement Light Rail service.
Continuous platform announcements were made to inform passengers of the service disruption and staff were deployed at stops to assist passengers during the affected period.
A detailed investigation will be conducted to look into the cause of the incident.
The Corporation apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
